São Paulo – The Schwaab Company, a small manufacturer of cosmetics made from certified essences from the Amazonian forest, was already born with one foot on the foreign market. As soon as it was established, in February 2007, it started exporting to Germany. Now, after obtaining a certification from the Biodynamic Institute (IBD) and increasing production capacity at its plant, in the city of Porto Velho, capital of the state of Rondônia, it plans on conquering new markets such as the United Arab Emirates.
"We are really willing to ship our products to the Middle Eastern markets. We work with natural, certified essences of the Amazon, therefore we believe that we will enjoy good acceptance in the region," says Mário Schaab, the director of the company. "We are seeking an importer or distributor in the Emirates, due to the country’s strategic location," says the businessman.
The IBD’s certification guarantees the quality of the product, its ingredients and its packaging, and ensures that they are not hazardous to health. Schwaab underscores that the quest for certification took two years, and that all ingredients comply with the IBD’s requirements, because aside from the monitoring and the auditing, there is a market that is growing more and more demanding with regard to product origin. "We believe that it was worth investing in it," he says.
Presently, the factory has potential to make 40,000 60-gram tubes, but produces only 3,000. "We are reworking the packaging and preparing a new marketing campaign alongside the trading companies to seek new partners. We have plenty of raw material and willpower to produce more," the businessman says.
Responsible for the creation, manufacturing, packaging and selling of personal hygiene and beauty products, Schaab makes hydrating cream, after bath lotion, liquid soap, bar soap, massage oils, lip protection and lipstick. Its main raw material is Amazonian oils – from Brazil nut, Copaíba and Andiroba – and Cupuassu butter, the company’s flagship.
In the domestic market, the enterprise sells its products on a virtual store.
