The São Paulo Sacred Art Museum is offering the course ‘Art and Islamic Civilization: the Arab Empire’, from February 16th to April 5th. Classes show the influence of different cities and time periods in Islam’s art.

Son of immigrants, Romeu Abílio, a retired judge, launched the book ‘Lembranças minurcas’ with memories from his family and the Syrian-Lebanese community that settled in the Minas Gerais city of Guaxupé.

The course with refugees from the Abraço Cultural (Cultural Hug) project will offer Arabic classes from January 11 to February 5, 2016. The basic level classes will be taught by Syrian teachers. Enrolments are open.
