Brazilian foreign sales of the product totalled US$ 114 million in 2008. The main markets were Angola, Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay and the United States.

Exports from Brazil to the region totalled US$ 36.4 million in 2008. The increase countered a trend of decrease in total shipments. Another highlight was the performance in sales to Italy.

The industry of raw materials, such as sand and gravel, has not been seriously affected by the global crisis. The growth rates recorded in 2008, of above 7%, should decrease in 2009.
Of the 5,563 cities in the country, 2,335 sold aboard last year. Cities in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Pará and Minas Gerais are among the ten main exporters.
Brazilian exports totalled US$ 9.8 billion, imports, US$ 10.5 billion, and bilateral trade reached US$ 20.3 billion. Even after the crisis, business continued to grow.
During the term of Antonio Sarkis Jr. as president at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, trade with the Arabs grew 148%. The institution organised or participated in over 200 events in Brazil and abroad.
