Operations in a well located in Jubarte field, in Campos Basin, begin tomorrow. Initial extraction should be 10,000 barrels of light oil a day. The ceremony should be attended by president Lula.

This is the expected growth for the sector in Brazil this year, according to a survey conducted among 41 companies in the area that own more than 3,500 stores. Combined revenues total US$ 3.6 billion.
The estimate is by Brazilian Development Bank president Luciano Coutinho, and refers to the period from 2008 to 2011, when investment in the Brazilian economy should reach US$ 1.5 trillion.
An estimate by the Eclac shows that the country should grow 4.8% this year, whereas the economy of the region should advance 4.7%. The organisation forecasts five more years of sustainable growth.
The sector posted better performance in July than in June. In the accumulated result for the year, exports generated US$ 6.8 billion and imports, US$ 19 billion.
The state increased its exports of services by 59% last year. Sales ranged from services in metallurgy to consultancy in environmental management.
The carmaker sold 9,770 units in the first half, growth of 130% over the same period last year. The target is to sell 18,000 units in the country by the end of the year.
Brasília – The volume of credit in the Brazilian National Financial System reached 1.085 trillion reals (US$ 669 billion) in July, a figure equivalent to 37% of the sum of goods and services produced in the country, i.e. the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Brazil exported the equivalent to US$ 3.73 billion and imported US$ 4.57 billion, resulting in a US$ 840 million deficit.
Elegance, a Brazilian maker of lingerie, already exports 30% of its annual produce of one million units and plans to double these figures over the next five years.
Sur Beach Wear was launched in June and is already getting ready to ship its first products to the Emirates. A retailer from the Arab country has already placed an order for 300 units.
The figure concerns direct investment into Brazil from January to July. The volume totalled US$ 5.2 billion in August. The Central Bank estimates a US$ 35 billion inflow by December.
The northern Brazilian state exported US$ 2.7 million in live cattle to Lebanon in the month of July. Shipments totalled almost 3,000 animals through Mungubá and Belém ports.
