Brazilian president Lula said yesterday (19) that he is negotiating to import natural gas from markets other than Bolivia. Prospects include Libya and Algeria, according to an article published in newspaper O Globo. The government should send representatives of Petrobras to those countries in order to negotiate the possibility of being supplied with gas.

Santana Têxtil, an indigo manufacturer based in the northeastern Brazilian state of Ceará, sent two designers to research fashion in the United Arab Emirates early this year. What they found was jeans wear with lots of stones, brilliance and details. Economist Walter Brasil Mundell gave a lecture on Brazilian economy yesterday (16) at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. According to him, Brazil is currently benefiting from the heightened price of commodities, driven by high credit and consumption rates in the United States. Mundell believes in the possibility of global recession and said that if it happens, Brazil will grow less.
