São Paulo – Brazilian clothing production was up 3.7% in Q1 this year from Q1 2013, as per figures released this Friday (16th) by the Brazilian Textile Industry Association (Abit), based on figures from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In textiles (fabric, yarn, fibre etc.), however, output was down 5.3%.
In March from February, clothing production was also down, by 0.6%, and textiles output was down 1%. March-on-March, clothing industry output was down 1.7% and textiles were down 5.8%.
Sales volume for textiles and clothing was down 7.3% March-on-March in Brazil, and nominal revenues were down 2.3%. In Q1, sales volume was up 0.5% and nominal revenues were down 2.3%.
