São Paulo – SSG Comércio Internacional Ltda. belongs to the Tema Transportes group and was established two years ago to develop commodity trading logistics. In the first half of December, representatives from the company should be visiting Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to prospect new markets.
The trip these Paulista (people originally from the state of São Paulo) executives are taking should coincide with the Brazilian Week & Trade Exhibition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between December 7 and 9. "We want to be present, especially in the business round week," says Sueli Gonçalves, SSG director.
This should not be the first company contact with an Arab country. In 2001 SSG was responsible for the transport of second hand equipment to an oil pole installed in Dubai.
The parts, estimated at around US$ 3 million, left the city of Erechim, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, and were transported on 18 special trucks to the port of Santos, in the Southeastern state of São Paulo, a distance of around 1,000 kilometers. Then, under the care of another company in Tema Transportes Internacionais group, they were sent to Jabel Ali, in the Emirates.
According to the director, two ships were necessary for transport of these large items. "It took 28 days to take the structure from Rio Grande do Sul to Santos, and another 45 days to get to Dubai", she says. She then explains that the structure was produced by company Intecnial in Erechim, and sold by Crown Americana.
This first and successful experience in equipment transport to Jebel Ali made the company very pleased and optimistic about future deals. "We have great interest in operating in this kind of special transport," she guarantees.
The group
Tema Transportes Internacionais, of which SSG is part, provides services to many multinational companies dedicated to the food, agricultural, and auto sectors. The company operates in maritime, air, and land freight (by road and railway). The company also makes itself responsible for storage, distribution and document consultancy.
The company offers door to door, and port to port services, transporting dry cargo and containers. The special division has options for heavy and extra heavy volume transport (up to 130 tons), and uses a variety of different truck for cargo transport.
