São Paulo – The consortium exploring the Libra oil field, in Santos Basin‘s pre-salt layer, confirmed this Monday (27th) it has discovered oil at well NW-1. According to information disclosed by news agency Agência Brasil, the oil found is of good quality and the well is being drilled at a depth of 5,326 metres.
The Libra Field is operated by a consortium led by Petrobras (40%), and comprised of Anglo-Dutch Shell and French Total, each with a 20% share, and also Chinese companies CNPC and Cnooc, each owning a 10% share of the consortium. The well is 170 kilometres away from the Rio de Janeiro shore.
