São Paulo – Seven Brazilian manufacturers of defence equipment participated, this week, in the Milipol Qatar fair, held in Doha between the 20th and the 22nd. The Brazilian pavilion at the fair was organized by the Brazilian Defence and Security Industries Association (Abimde, in the Portuguese acronym) with the support of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
In a communiqué released by the Abimde, the technical director of the organization, Colonel Armando Lemos, said all companies received visits which may lead to future deals. “The companies seemed very satisfied with the structure provided by Abimde/Apex and deem important the Brazilian attendance at this event as they all received visits from potential buyers and had the opportunity to establish important international contacts,” he said.
In a communiqué released this Thursday (23rd), the Abimde said the companies CBC, an ammunition manufacturer; Forjas Taurus, helmets and plastic containers manufacturer; BCA Têxtil, bullet-proof equipment manufacturer; Glágio do Brasil, which produces helmets, vests and shields, among other products; GEO Calçados, a footwear company; Condor, non-lethal weapon manufacturer; and BR Defesa, which retrofits armour plates in security cars, are all participating in the exhibition.
The Milipol exhibition is held every two years in Doha. According to data released by Apex-Brasil, the Middle Eastern security industry market is estimated to be worth 16 billion euros. The Brazilian companies took to this edition of the event equipment of segments such as ships, marine radars and carbon dioxide scrubbers, among other items.
According to the Abimde communiqué, the Brazilian pavilion received the visit of Qatar’s prime minister, Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
