São Paulo – The Dubai Municipality will host from December 29 to 31 the first UAE Honey Festival. According to information published by Emirates News Agency (WAM), the event will take place in the village of Hatta and will have, in this first edition, 25 exhibitors, among foreigners and local honey producers.
Besides promoting beekeeping, the festival aims to raise the quality level of services, and to promote leisure and tourism in Hatta.
“This area is given focus due to its historical and cultural importance, and to convert the Hatta area into a first-class tourist destination for Emiratis and foreigners. We also want to provide the people of the area all elements of a decent urban life,” said to WAM Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality.
Lootah also said that the festival could play a big role in the support for local producers. Its goal is to gather the elite of beekeeping from the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf region and other regions across the world and allow the exchange of experiences for the improvement of honey production.
The festival will also include a fair for honey sales, exhibition of other honey-related products, lectures by the region’s beekeepers and experts and scientific session covering the subject.
