São Paulo – The Institute for Arab Culture (ICARABE) and the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) will hold this Wednesday’s evening (18) the debate Dialogue Between Civilizations and Cultures. The free-of-charge event has the support of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Alliance Française, and will take place at the dean’s amphitheater at UNIFESP.
The event will have as a guest the diplomat and first advisor of the European Union at Syria, Anis Nacrour, who also worked on missions in Jerusalem and Yemen. The goal is to discuss the meeting of cultures and the possibility for dialogue among civilizations, to prompt reflection on migrations and the expansion of reciprocal knowledge.
“The event is a demonstration of how culture, arts and diplomatic relations can generate a great moment of reflection about the large displacements that we see today in the modern world, and also the need for the acknowledgment of cultures among civilizations, said UNIFESP’s dean, Soraya Samili.
The debate will be moderated by the coordinators of the Dialogue Between Civilizations project, professor Olgária Matos, UNIFESP, and visual artist Denise Millan. The project also includes a book to be published by UNIFESP’s publishing house and a series of lectures. The physician and professor at UNIFESP, Sergio Tufik, will be honored during the day for services rendered in promoting dialogue in Brazil.
“The Arab Chamber encourages this dialogue not only through trade, but also via the cultural activities it seeks to promote,” said the Culture director at the Arab Chamber, Silvia Antibas.
