Six Arab companies are in the list. The announcement was made during the conference held in Istanbul, Turkey, whose theme was unlocking resources for regional development.
The companies have been selected, according to the Forum’s press release, for having displayed above-average performance in their respective sectors with regards to revenue growth, promoting innovative business practices and leadership in corporate citizenship.
The Arab companies selected are the Bahraini banking group Al Baraka; the Saudi companies Saudi German Hospital, in healthcare, and National Technology Group, in information and communications technology; and the United Arab Emirates’ job search website Bayt.com, Al Hilal bank and airline Air Arabia.
According to the managing director and head of ‘New Champions’ at the WEF, David Aikman, these companies are at the forefront of driving responsible economic growth, job creation and entrepreneurism in their regions. “We look forward to their active and dynamic role in fostering inclusive, sustainable growth in the region,” said the businessman, according to a WEF press release.
The WEF’s global growth companies community consists of over 370 companies from around the world. According to the Forum, the most dynamic and high-growth companies in the globe are selected. These companies are considered trailblazers, shapers and innovators that are committed to improving the state of the world.
The companies in this community, according to the WEF’s press release, help the organization in its meetings, projects and studies. In return, the organization assists them in their quest for responsible and sustainable growth. They are also part of a larger group named “New Champions”, which also includes individuals who are at the cutting edge in fields such as social entrepreneurship, technology, business administration, science, and others.
