São Paulo – Brazil set a new record in natural gas output, at 76.2 million cubic metres per day in December last year, up 3.9% from November. It was the third consecutive month of increased gas extraction in the country. Gas production was up 6.8% in December 2012 from December 2011.
Regarding oil production, Brazil extracted 2.105 million barrels per day in December last year, up 2.9% from the preceding month. In the pre-salt layer alone, output stood at 292,500 barrels per day, up 7.5% from November.
In all of 2012, Brazil produced approximately 754 million barrels of oil and 26 billion cubic metres of natural gas.
