São Paulo – Grendene, Brazil’s leading shoe exporting company, shipped out 9.6 million pairs of shoes in quarter two this year. The figure is up 23% from quarter two, 2012, when the company exported 7.8 million pairs. Grendene sells to 90-plus countries.
The company produced a total of 40.6 million pairs of shoes from April to July this year, up 23.9% from April to July 2012. Domestic sales amounted to 31 million pairs, up from 2012’s 25 million. The company’s director for finance and investor relations, Francisco Schmitt, has said that in the future, domestic sales will remain accountable for the bulk of the company’s growth.
