São Paulo – The 11th International Fair for Products, Equipment, Services and Technology for Hospitals, Health Clinics and Laboratories, Hospitalar 2004, which finished on Friday (04), in the financial city of São Paulo, generated around US$ 1.021 billion in business deals.
In all 74,000 people visited the fair, among them 1,393 importers from 45 countries. The business volume was 8% greater than the 2003 edition.
Greater export is one of the targets of the medical hospital industry. Last year, the sector had foreign trade revenues of US$ 222 million. This year, the target is to reach US$ 293 million.
Business roundtables promoted by the Association of the Manufacturers of Medical and Dental Products (Abimo), the Support Service to the Small Business (Sebrae) and the Export Promotion Agency (Apex) resulted in contracts of US$ 2.6 million between importers and Brazilian industries. Those participating included 18 international buyers and 62 domestic companies.
