São Paulo – Industrial production in Brazil was up 0.4% in January 2016 from December 2015, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported this Friday (04). Year-on-year in January, however, production was down 13.8%.
The numbers are from the monthly physical production survey (Pesquisa Industrial Mensal Produção Física Brasil – PIM-PF) and show increased activity in 15 out of 24 industry segments surveyed. In the 12 months ending January, industry activity was down 9% in Brazil as per IBGE numbers.
