Doha – The Chamber of Commerce of Jeddah, the main economic hub in Saudi Arabia, is going to promote a trade mission to Brazil in May. One of the main goals, according to the coordinator of Foreign Affairs at the organisation, Mohammed Azzam, is to promote the city, located along the Red Sea coast, as an international business centre.
“The Chamber wants to help Brazilian companies to settle in Jeddah, presenting the city as a large business capital,” said Azzam, who participated in the South America-Arab Countries Business Forum, held on Sunday and Monday (30th), in Doha, Qatar.
In addition to showing what the city has to offer, the organisation is taking to Brazil a delegation of Saudi businessmen who are interested in doing business with Brazilian companies. So far, according to Azzam, ten businessmen in different sectors have confirmed their participation.
The mission is going to pass through the cities of São Paulo and Brasília. The schedule of meetings in Brazil is going to be organised by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
For the Brazilian businessmen who become interested in the city, the Saudi chamber is committed to placing them in contact with the leading companies in Jeddah, in addition to providing advisory concerning the procedures for establishing a business.
According to Azzam, in order to settle in Jeddah, foreign businessmen do not need a local partner, as usually required in Saudi Arabia. They can own 100% of their business. He added that import tariffs for inputs destined to the city are low.
