São Paulo – The bus body manufacturing company Marcopolo, based in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, is shipping 32 buses to operator Avis, from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The order, due for delivery in October, comprises units of the Paradiso 1200 model, and will be used in transportation of employees of Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (Gasco). The information was released last Monday (17th) by Marcopolo.
Founded in 1978, Gasco is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), Shell, Total and Partex, and operates in onshore gas processing and transport.
According to Marcopolo, the buses are assembled on the Scania K410 4×2 chassis, with capacity for 44 passengers. The vehicles are equipped with double glazed glass panels, video monitors, special insulation for high temperatures, and acoustic insulation.
“We are managing to be competitive and increasing our exports to traditional buyer markets whose purchases had declined. These units add up to a total of 79 buses supplied to the customer Avis,” says Marcopolo commercial operations director Paulo Corso, as per a statement from the company.
The vehicles will be made at the Ana Rech unit in the city of Caxias do Sul. According to the statement from Marcopolo, this is the third consecutive order placed by Avis to the Brazilian manufacturing company.
