São Paulo – Mauritania’s government signed this week an agreement with the government of Japan to receive funding worth JPY 200 million (USD 1.946 million) for improvements in the airports of the capital Nouakchott, and of Nouadhibou, the country’s second largest city.
The funds will allow the airports to purchase security equipment for the management of passengers and luggage flows and also to help reinforce total capacity of both places. The Nouakchott airport is a new and was opened in June, according to news agency Panapress.
