São Paulo – The new president of the Institute of Arab Culture (Icarabe) is Egypt’s Mohamed Habib. He has lived in Brazil for over 40 years. Habib holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Alexandria University and a doctorate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Campinas (Unicamp). He is also a retired Unicamp professor.
In an interview to the Icarabe website, Habib said one of the biggest challenges in leading the institute is to keep its work collectively oriented. He likened the organization’s work to that of an orchestra. “We must work like a maestro so that everyone can tune up their strings and maintain their lines of thought, their freedom and autonomy in a symphonic orchestra,” Habib said.
