São Paulo – Last Tuesday (8th), the Palestinian minister of Communication, Safa Nassereddin, announced the creation of the first-ever seal with the inscription “State of Palestine,” which will be used at Palestinian diplomatic offices throughout the world. The information was released by the Wafa news agency.
The new seals will be printed in Bahrain, which will also contribute with printing costs. According to the Wafa, last Sunday (6th), president Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree setting forth that the government will use the term “State of Palestine” instead of Palestinian National Authority” in official documents, including passports, IDs, population registry, driver licenses, seals and other documents.
On November 29, 2012, Palestine was recognized as a United Nations non-member state. There were 138 votes in favour, 41 abstentions and nine votes against.
