São Paulo – Qatar Airways concluded the acquisition of a 10% stake in Latam Airlines, according to information released on Wednesday (28) by the two airlines. The Qatari carrier purchased, via its subsidiary Qatar Airways Investments (UK) Ltd, 60,837,452 Latam shares. The deal was worth USD 608 million.
The preferred shares offer was made at a price of USD 10 per share. The deal was announced last July. “The entrance of Qatar into the ownership (of LATAM) is an opportunity to develop a long-term relationship and explore new opportunities for connectivity with Asia and the Middle East,” Latam Airlines said in a statement.
