São Paulo – Importers from Qatar and Morocco visited Movelsul Brasil 2016, fair of the furniture sector that is open until Friday (18) in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul. The Qatari companies Al Jaidah Brothers and Design One came as part of the Buyer’s Project, which brings importers to business meetings with Brazilian industries, according to information from the fair’s organization.
Al Jaidah Brothers already imports furniture from Brazil and spent USD 700,000 in purchases last year, according to information given by the company’s general director, Nabil Basma, during the fair. According to him, they seek in Brazil for furniture that presents both quality and competitive prices. Maria Lourdes Elardo, from Design One, is sales consultant and also took part in the business matchmaking. She told the organization that the fair exceeded expectations.
According to data released by Movelsul, last year Qatar imported USD 733,300 in Brazilian furniture, a growth of 61% over the previous year, when purchases totaled USD 455,100.
In all, 14 countries took part in the Buyer’s Project. Expectation in the beginning of the fair pointed to businesses totaling USD 35 million in a period of 12 months. Besides Qatar and Morocco, the countries also taking part in the fair via the project are Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, United States, France, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Paraguay and Saint Martin. The project is organized by industry union Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves along with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The industry union also organizes the fair.
