Rio de Janeiro – Education and research center Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) estimates in 4.1% the cumulative fall of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the 12-month period ending last January. The forecast by the FGV’s GDP monitor released this Tuesday (15) points to a sharper decline of the GDP in comparison to 2015’s consolidated result (-3.8%).
The monthly rate registered a decline of 6.1% over January 2015, the steepest decline in this type of comparison since the beginning of the series of FGV’s GDP Monitor in 2000.
In the comparison with December 2015, there was an increase of 0.13% in January of this year. Since November to December already had registered an increase of 0.06%, the results could signal a “subtle stability in economic activity”, according to FGV.
