São Paulo – The Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in Tunisia, will hold, from March 8 to 11, the Mediterranean Building Exhibition (Medibat). According to organizers, the fair will emphasize the presentation and promotion of innovations of the construction industry and the partnerships between the sector’s operators.
This is the 14th edition of the event, which takes places every two years. Among the highlights of the fair is a space dedicated to the reconstruction of the neighboring country Libya. According to the organization, the country’s local and national organizations will present near 200 infrastructure projects.
Another highlight is the participation by Algeria. Near 100 Algerian companies and other organizations, such as real estate developers, investors, importers and government agencies, are expected to take part in the event.
The fair will also have the presence of delegations from other African nations. Burkina Faso is another country that will have a special participation. Overall, around 30 foreign delegations should take part in the event. More than 500 business meetings are being planned.
During the fair, four forums will be held: economic, scientific, entrepreneurial and innovation. Among the topics to be discussed are “The public-private partnerships in Africa”, “Innovation and enhancement in civil engineering and construction materials” and “To undertake and innovate in the building industry”.
According to the organization, in the last edition, in 2015, the fair welcomed over 420 exhibitors and 55,000 visitors from 52 countries.
The exports of home and building industry products from Brazil to the Arab world totaled USD 51.71 million last year, an increase of 2% over 2015. To Tunisia, sales generated USD 1.48 million, up 260% in the same comparison. To Arab nations in Africa, shipments totaled USD 15.15 million, up 3%.
