São Paulo – The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) informed on Thursday (24) that the Catholic University of Santos (Unisantos), on the coast of the state of São Paulo, is offering openings for refugees interested in studying at the college. The institution is offering three positions and full time scholarships. Enrolment may go up to midday of the 29th.
According to the UNHCR, those interested may enrol for one of the 17 courses offered, including Business Administration, Biology, Social Communication emphasizing on Journalism, Advertising or Public Relations, Philosophy, Logistics, Maths, Music, Pedagogy, International Relations, and Information Systems, among others. The refugees do not need to pay an enrolment fee for the admittance test.
The scholarship is an initiative of Sérgio Vieira de Mello Foundation – named in honour of the Brazilian who headed the UN mission in Iraq in 2003, who was killed in an attack to the organisation’s installations in Baghdad – and the UNHCR. The foundation was established to promote the international right of refugees in Latin America and, in Brazil, according to the UNHCR, includes participation of public and private universities.
Further information about the admittance test, courses, documents necessary for enrolment, date and time of tests may be obtained in the Unisantos Call for Refugee Scholarships, on link http://goo.gl/OHyWk.
