São Paulo – Motor vehicle sales in Brazil were down 7.43% in August from July this year. According to figures released this Tuesday (2nd) by the National Motor Vehicle Distributors Association (Fenabrave), 404,217 vehicles were sold in the country last month. In July, 436,674 units were sold, including automobiles, motorcycles, light commercial vehicles, buses, trucks and agricultural machinery. August-on-August, sales were down 16%.
According to Fenabrave figures, 3.333 million vehicles were sold year-to-date through August this year, down 8.62% from 3.647 million units sold in the same period of 2013. As per Fenabrave figures, automobiles account for 48.27% of total industry sales. Next come motorcycles, at 28.88%, and commercial vehicles at 16.22%.
In August, 193,146 automobiles were sold in Brazil, down 7.12% from July and down 20.08% from August 2013.
