São Paulo – Industrial production slowed down in ten Brazilian states in Q1 this year from Q1 2014, says the monthly survey released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) this Tuesday (12th). The survey shows industry output in Amazonas declined the most in Q1, by 17.8% from a year ago.
Production also declined in Ceará (-5.9%), Bahia (-12.5%), Minas Gerais (-8%), Rio de Janeiro (-6.3%), São Paulo (-5.4%), Paraná (-10.5%), Santa Catarina (-7%), Rio Grande do Sul (-8.8%) and Goiás (-0.8%). Industry production in the Brazilian Northeast was down 5.8%.
The areas where industrial production increased were Pará (8.7%), Pernambuco (2%), Espírito Santo (20.9%) and Mato Grosso (3.9%). National average industrial production was down 5.9% in Q1 this year from Q1 2014.
